The devotion to Saint Anne extends far beyond the town of Hagonoy; many other towns, some nearly as old as ours, also hold a deep reverence for her. Widely venerated as the mother of the Virgin Mary, Saint Anne played a vital role in the salvation of humanity as the grandmother of Jesus Christ, our Savior. She is often regarded as a powerful intercessor before heaven. In Hagonoy, she is especially known as the "Abogada sa Langit," lovingly compared to a grandmother who is ever ready to protect and intercede for us in all things.

Saint Anne holds a special place in the lives of every Hagonoeño. Over the years, deep devotion to her has led the locals to recognize her as the patroness of sailors and fisheries. This is why in the fishing huts along the coastal areas, one will often find an image or picture of Saint Anne. This practice reflects their profound reverence for Saint Anne and their earnest prayers for her intercession, seeking protection and abundant harvests from the sea.

As a tribute to these blessings and in gratitude for the daily prayers of the devotees, an annual tradition known as the "Pagoda" takes place every July, midway through the novena. This event serves as an expression of thanksgiving to God for the abundant harvest from the waters and as a tribute to Saint Anne, who is believed to guide and assist the people in securing bountiful catches and navigating the waves.

The "Pagoda" is a grand fluvial procession along the town’s river, carrying the image of Apo Ana. It is a joyous celebration filled with music and dancing—a communal act of praise to God, the giver of all blessings. The air resounds with the people's heartfelt cry: "Salamat sa Diyos, sa Masaganang Ani ng Dagat!" ("Thanks be to God for the bountiful harvest of the sea!")
